LONG XUYEN TO TRI TON

The van will then transfer us a short way to the T-Juntion of Tri Ton district. We get out of the van and start biking the 44 km. ride to the magical Seven Mountains region! Again, we only cycle as much as we want to, as the van goes with us the whole trip. We ride on smooth road with a canal and neat bamboo bridges spanning it.

In Tri Ton, we stay at a 2-star hotel . We eat with a family that makes really great delta food, including vinegar beef, Vietnamese sour soup, tasty meatballs with herbs and spices, and fresh tropical fruit for dessert. We are entertained by their 5-year-old precocious grandson who makes observations about life far beyond his years, makes faces, and knows he is being funny.

In Tri Ton, we can cycle or take the van for the 40 kms to Ba Chuc Village--where more than 3,100 villagers were killed by Khmer Rouge during an 11-day incursion in April, 1978. On the way, we will see different temples of both Vietnamese and Khmer design. The ricefields are nestled between the Seven Mountains which give this region its distinct flavor.
